Here’s the Story…
Named for a touching parable and poem penned in 1954 by Owner Brian Houlihan’s father, Liam, The Tinker’s Son is the realization of Brian’s dream to deliver authentic dishes from his native Ireland in a home guests will find as warm as their own.
The Tinker’s Son has been pouring perfect pints and crafting scratch dishes since 2009. Partnering with local farms and fish mongers like Mullaney’s, you can be sure the only fish fresher than the one on your plate got away!
You will see that greenness extends beyond our pub décor all around the establishment -from the recycling bins to
the earth-friendly takeout containers to the biodegradable kids’ cups made from corn. Yup CORN! No, they are not edible, though we suppose the crayons might be – they’re non-toxic.
And speaking of kids – kids just love us! And their great-grandmas love us too! Our atmosphere is inviting – we’re fun and we’re casual. The Tinker’s Son thrives as a family joint and you’ll commonly find 3 or 4 generations of people who share DNA also sharing a table. Check out the Sunday Brunch crew deftly dodging your doppelgangers while they try their hands at any number of instruments provided by the session gang. Junior’s third grade recorder solo can’t hold a candle to the jam session our pint-size punters crank out on Sundays!
The South Shore teems with talent and on any given night at The Tinker’s Son you can enjoy the musical stylings of an array of performers spanning Irish, funk, rock-a-billy, Americana, reggae and more. Scuff up the pub floor line dancing on Country Night – Giddy Up!
NO COVER CHARGE – COME AS YOU ARE!
Hmmm….hmmm…..hmmm….I LOVE THIS BAR!
